Fans & Case ModsWhile not generally considered important when building a computer, cooling can greatly increase performance by keeping all the components at a reasonable temperature.
In order to cool the inside of the computer and increase the systems efficiency, three main types of coolers are commonly used;
Fans - These are a cheap, effective way of moving airflow through the case, replacing hot air with cooler air. These come in 8 - 14cm variants with larger fans pushing more air and generally quieter.
Passive - This type of cooler has no moving parts and is generally made of copper or another heat conducting metal. The cooler conducts heat from component and dissipates it elsewhere.
Water - Water cooling allows for the dissipation of heat through the use of flowing water. Water cooling also has no moving parts and so is very quiet. |
